Terms & Conditions
Last updated: 8 October 2026
These are the terms on which Taunton Web Co. provides website design and related services. They're written in plain English on purpose. If anything is unclear, email hello@tauntonwebco.co.uk before you order and I'll explain it.
1. Who we are
Taunton Web Co. is a web design business run by Tyler Bennett, a sole trader in Taunton, Somerset, United Kingdom. “We”, “us” and “I” mean Taunton Web Co.; “you” means the person or business buying from us.
Business address: 44A William Street, Taunton, Somerset, TA2 6HQ. Email hello@tauntonwebco.co.uk · phone 07771 635287.
2. What these terms cover
These terms apply to free mock-ups, quotes and paid website work we provide. Where we agree a separate written quote or proposal with you, that proposal takes priority over anything in these terms that conflicts with it.
3. The free mock-up
- The first homepage mock-up is free and without obligation. You only pay if you decide to go ahead.
- The mock-up is a design concept prepared for you. You may keep it, whether or not you proceed.
- It may use example or stock imagery and placeholder copy until you supply your own. Stock images are licensed for use on your site but remain subject to the stock provider's licence.
4. Prices and payment
- Kickstart — £379 one-off (up to five pages, mobile-first).
- Kickstart + Care — £269 to build, then £25 per month for the Care Plan.
- Custom — from £799, quoted in writing before work starts.
Launch offer. The first 20 customers get £100 off: Kickstart at £279 and Starter + Care at £169, while the offer lasts. The price you see at checkout is the price you pay.
Unless we agree otherwise, paid work is half up front (deposit) and half on launch. Payment is by card through our payment processor (Stripe), or by bank transfer. Card details are entered directly on Stripe's secure pages and are never seen or stored by us. Prices are in pounds sterling and include any applicable VAT only if we are VAT-registered (see below).
5. What's included
Each package and any extra work is described on the site or in your written quote. Typical inclusions and limits:
- Design and build of the agreed pages, mobile-first and search-friendly.
- Linking your contact form and click-to-call details.
- One round of reasonable edits on the Kickstart package after your first review, unless we agree more.
- The Care Plan adds hosting setup, backups, security updates and small text/photo edits on request.
Anything not listed — extra pages, e-commerce, booking systems, copywriting, paid advertising, or photography arranged through us — is quoted separately and up front.
6. Timings
We aim to send your mock-up within two to three working days, and to have your site live about three working days after you approve it and give us everything we need. These are good-faith estimates, not guarantees: delays can happen if we're waiting on your content, images or approvals.
7. Your responsibilities
- Give us accurate details and the content (text, images, logos) needed to build your site, and respond to questions reasonably promptly.
- Make sure you own or have permission to use everything you send us, and that it doesn't break anyone else's rights. You're responsible for content you supply.
- Tell us about anything the site must comply with (for example, regulated-industry rules).
8. Ownership and your domain
- Once you've paid in full, you own the completed website we have designed and built for you, including its content.
- Your domain name is registered in your name, not ours. If you ever want to move your website elsewhere, we'll hand over the files and access.
- We keep the right to show your finished site in our portfolio and to say we built it, unless you ask us not to.
- Unless you pay in full, or we agree otherwise in writing, ownership passes to you only on full payment.
9. Hosting and the Care Plan
If you take the Care Plan, we look after hosting, backups, security updates and small edits for £25 per month. The plan runs monthly and can be cancelled at any time with 30 days' notice; we'll help you move or export your site if you leave. If you don't take the Care Plan, you're responsible for your own hosting and maintenance after launch.
10. Cancelling and refunds
Because every site is made to order and starts as a free mock-up, please make sure you're happy with the direction before paying a deposit — that's what the free mock-up is for.
- Before build work starts: if you cancel, we refund any amount paid for work not yet begun.
- Once build work has started: the deposit covers work already carried out and is not refundable, because that time has been spent on your project. Any final balance is only due on launch.
- Consumers: if you are a consumer (not buying for your business), you may have a 14-day right to cancel under the Consumer Contracts Regulations 2013. If you ask us to start work within that period, you may lose that right once the service is fully performed — we'll confirm this with you before starting.
- Monthly Care Plan payments are not refundable for a month already started, but you can cancel at any time with 30 days' notice.
11. Our liability
We'll do the work with reasonable care and skill. We're not responsible for losses that aren't a foreseeable result of something we did wrong, for lost profits or business opportunities, or for problems caused by third-party services (hosting, domains, payment processors, search engines) or by content you supplied. Nothing in these terms limits your legal rights as a consumer, or our liability for anything that can't be limited by law.
12. Complaints
If something isn't right, tell us first — email hello@tauntonwebco.co.uk or call 07771 635287 and we'll try to put it right quickly.
13. Which law applies
These terms are governed by the law of England and Wales, and any disputes are dealt with by the courts of England and Wales.
14. Changes
We may update these terms from time to time; the version that applies to your order is the one published when you order. We'll update the date at the top when we change them.
